Academic Secretariat (SEAC)

The Academic Secretariat conducts the management and operationalization of the graduate courses offered by the IAM. The SEAC responsibilities includes: 

  • Monitoring of educational legislation; 

  • Academic control; 

  • Expedition of documents from admission until the conclusion of the course and issuance of the diploma; 

  • Orientation to students in relation to their academic life; 

  • Management of documents and records; 

  • Follow-up from the public call announcement, when the student starts in the graduation course, until course completion; 

  • Support for the faculty. 

Office hours: 

Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays: from 8am to 12pm and from 1pm to 4pm; 

Thursdays: internal office work.

  • What courses does IAM offer?

    IAM offers four graduation programs on a regular basis: Multiprofessional Residency Program in Collective Health; Graduate Program in Public Health - Academic Modality (master's and doctorate); Graduate Program in Public Health - Professional Modality (master's anddoctorate); and the Graduate Program in Biosciences and Biotechnology in Health - Academic Modality (master's and doctorate). The institute also offers specialized courses to meet specific demands, as well as refresher and advanced courses. For more information, click on the link for each program:

  • Are the graduate courses offered by IAM free of tuition fees?

    All courses offered by IAM are entirely free of charge.

  • Do the master's and doctoral programs require full time dedication?

    Full time is required for academic courses. For the professional modality courses, the students must be available to fulfill the face-to-face modules and the immersion modules for further bibliographical research and systematic meetings with the advisors, as determined by the Public Call for Selection.

  • Do IAM courses offer scholarships?

    There is no guarantee of scholarship for the students of the academic courses. The programs receive a quota of scholarships provided by funding agencies, aiming at encouraging teaching and research. These scholarships are granted according to the classification criteria defined by the funding agencies and by each program's Scholarship Committee.
    There is no scholarship for students in the professional program. The funding of expenses to ensure the student's participation in the professional course will be the responsibility of their home institution or the student themselves. 

  • How do I get into the master's and doctoral programs?

    Admission is by application process, which occurs according to each one of the course soffered. At the IAM the courses have, annual calls. Exceptionally, at the discretion of the Collegiate of each program, transference of students from other graduate programs can be accepted, provided that the requirements of the Regulation of the intended program are met.

  • Is it necessary to have a master's degree to attend the doctorate course?

    According to educational legislation the conclusion of master's courses does not constitute a necessary condition for admission into doctoral courses. It is up to each program to define, in its Regulations, the requirement or not of the title. At the IAM, the Public Health Programs (academic and professional) do not require a master's degree for admission to the doctoral program, although it strongly recommend that the candidate has one. The Biosciences and Biotechnology in Health Program requires a master's degree for admission to the doctoral program. 

  • Who can apply as a special student?

    Students from other graduate programs can take elective courses in the IAM Programs. Each course's coordinator is responsible for overseeing the process of offering vacancies and the selection of subjects. The interested party must follow the calls published on the IAM website and follow the criteria and requirements established by them. 

  • Does IAM have agreements with foreign institutions?

    Yes, through International Cooperation, which is the instance responsible for IAM's exchange program with higher education institutions in various countries.
